Newark-Wayne Community Hospital

Community Hospital, World-Class Care

Being a community hospital means providing care to generations of families. It means being a place where personal connections are part of every treatment plan. This approach to healthcare has been part of Wayne County since 1899, with Newark-Wayne Community Hospital emerging to become the primary care provider for its more than 92,000 residents.

As part of Rochester Regional Health, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital is a 120-bed acute care hospital that offers a full range of services including cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedics, pulmonary care, as well as an innovative telemedicine program. We also offer rehabilitative and long-term care through the DeMay Living Center, and we are proud to be a WHO Baby-Friendly hospital and a New York State-designated Primary Stroke Center.

The community’s dependence on our care drives our unrelenting improvement of its quality because we don’t want it to be adequate, we want it to be exceptional. We don’t want to be a convenience, we want to be a preference. And we don’t want to be only a rural hospital, we want to be the region’s best rural hospital.

But none of this is possible without your support.

Give Now

Through the Because Care Matters Campaign, we have the uncommon opportunity to build something that not only benefits us all, but also creates an irreversible standard for our community's healthcare. Together, we can realize great change for today and create significant momentum for the future.

Changes for Today and Tomorrow

When you give to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, you’re ensuring that the next generation benefits from a more robust hospital, and creating a stronger hospital for today’s community.

From either perspective, your support makes a big difference. By expanding our hospital’s layout, we will be able to add more space devoted to patient-centered care, which includes the most modern technology and most advanced treatments.

Our patient rooms and our surgical facilities are two areas where much needed support can dramatically transform the quality of a patient’s stay and their care.

The Fundamentals of Exceptional Care

The fundamentals of exceptional care are most concerned with the person receiving it. It’s for that reason we’re working toward providing each patient with a private room. Private rooms help patients feel less anxious, get better rest, and simply get better faster. The healing process is further accelerated when there’s more space for family and loved ones to visit and give their support.

Care When You Need It

A new surgical suite provides a state-of-the-art facility with advanced technology that allows for more non-invasive procedures, but most importantly, it shows our community that when they need specialized care, they will be able to get it right here.

Upgraded facilities will not only improve and expand on the procedures we are able to provide to our community, but it will also help attract and retain the most gifted surgeons, highly talented nurses, and other medical staff. Bringing world-class care to our community hospital is only achievable if the quality of our people matches the quality of our facilities.

An Incredible Legacy

For 34 years Dr. Wahl saw patients, not a list of symptoms. Because of his incredible legacy, we’d like to name the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital Intensive Care Unit in his memory, but we need your help. We need to raise $200,000 to renovate the ICU. Please donate today so our friends and loved ones can have the best and most compassionate care when they need it the most.

Our Impact, Together

Your gift is a demonstration of empathy and compassion toward your fellow community members who are sick or injured and, at the same time, a critical help to our ability to deliver better care.

Help us deliver exceptional care, together.

“As a business owner and resident of Wayne County, I have a vested interest in our community’s strength and development. I am extremely passionate about making it a better place to live, work and raise a family. To me, there’s no better place to start than our healthcare— and I can tell you that as a grateful patient.

I can’t overstate how wonderful it was to receive such outstanding care so close to home. This is a resource I truly believe we cannot afford to take for granted. Our support of this great asset protects the health of those we care about most as well as our community as a whole.”
