Patient-Centered Care Starts Here
We’re Developing Excellence by Cultivating Passion
It takes a special person to spend every day caring for others. That’s why we are so invested in developing a comprehensive program that enables us to train and retain the men and women across our system who have chosen to work in healthcare. Led by our Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Council, we are committed to providing our nurses with the support, tools and opportunities they need to build and hone their skill set and pursue any career ambitions they may have.
A Path to Leadership
Our nurses should only be limited by their own ambition. We’ve established several programs and partnerships that help current and aspiring nurses reach their potential.
Isabella Graham Hart School of Practical Nursing. Founded in 1964, the school provides the opportunity to become a licensed practical nurse through a comprehensive and hands-on program.
New Vision Nursing Sciences. Since 2012, the program has offered hands-on opportunities and simulation experiences at Newark- Wayne Community Hospital to Wayne County High School seniors interested in nursing careers.
Youth Apprentice Program. Formed to give students in the Rochester City School District the opportunity to gain realworld healthcare experience, the program offers a two-year comprehensive paid internship at Rochester General Hospital.
Collegiate Connections. We teamed up with the Rochester Institute of Technology to create the Nurse Leadership Development program, which focuses on advanced healthcare operation, strategy, coaching, critical thinking and more. We have also partnered with St. John Fisher College to provide financial aid and advanced degree options in nursing education.
Wegman Center for Workforce Development. The center provides clinical and non-clinical staff with advanced training opportunities that include a simulation laboratory, programs for aide training and safety, as well as resources for nursing research.
Your Support Matters
We’re able to sustain a high-level continuum of care because of programs that empower our nurses to seek learning and advancement opportunities. Your gifts strengthen these programs, provide scholarship support and financial aid and enable us to launch initiatives that create new pathways to education and leadership, across the entire health system.
