On Saturday, October 7, more than 1,700 of Rochester Regional Health’s friends and employees gathered at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center for the system’s signature celebration. As always, the event celebrated Rochester Regional’s accomplishments and growth, which were more plentiful than ever thanks to the Because Care Matters: The Campaign for Rochester Regional Health. This year, the community’s support of the event raised $1.3 million, benefitting Health Reach’s Healthcare for the Homeless program, the Lipson Cancer Institute, neurosciences at Rochester Regional Health and the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute.
Talk of the Event
Among the first things attendees saw as they entered the Convention Center was the grand staircase that appeared to be wearing the Campaign logo. They were also greeted by the smooth, soulful melodies of the Karl Stabnau Jazz Quartet.
And anyone who had yet to feel the evening’s glamour found it—and a very long line—in the Empire Hall lobby. Attendees were lined up waiting for their chance to strike a pose in the 360 Glam Cam.
“No, you're crying!”
Once everyone sat down for dinner, the night was kicked off with an energizing video that demonstrated why everyone in the room should be proud to support Rochester Regional Health. That feeling was heightened for many further into the program during a second video. This one featured four stories of care that forcefully tugged at the heartstrings.
“Did you make a gift?”
For the first time in Gala history, attendees had the opportunity to make a gift during the event—nearly 300 did, totaling $306,000. For those who didn’t or weren’t there, there’s an online giving form available for you.
“Is that really ABBA?”
Vali Entertainment’s Right Mix provided the soundtrack for the night’s program, featuring an array of contemporary song covers that rivaled the original versions.
Toward the latter portion of the evening ABBA parody group Björn Again transported attendees back to the 1970s with some of the Swedish band’s most popular songs and famous choreography.
After that dose of nostalgia, Right Mix returned to the stage for the Rockin’ After Hours Party and Dessert Reception.
