More than 1,200 lucky foodies, beer and wine connoisseurs and culinary enthusiasts made their way to Rochester Regional Health’s SAVOR!, on June 13. The sold-out event, held at the “Big Tent” on the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival grounds, offered a festival of small plates and tastings from 50 different vendors. It also featured a cooking demonstration by Michelin-rated chef Dominique Crenn.
The second annual event was held to support the women’s health and pediatric services that will be housed in Rochester Regional’s new Sands-Constellation Center for Critical Care. All proceeds and gifts also support the Because Care Matters Campaign, a $300 million comprehensive fundraising effort that will benefit the entire health system.
“This is such a wonderful event,” event committee chair Michele Williams said. “It was fantastic to meet Dominique, but I think I was most excited about the participation—from the vendors and members of the community. I was honored to be a part of the planning. Everything was so good! I think I tried it all!”
From Antonetta’s Restaurant to Zugibe Vineyards, local vendors not only delighted attendees with their offerings, but they also competed among each other for several awards. The Chef’s Choice Award, chosen by Crenn for best food preparation, had three winners: 2Vine, Farmhouse Table Food and FLX Table. Guests were able to choose their own winner by ballot and selected Charley Brown’s Restaurant for the People’s Choice Award. VIP ticket holders had the special opportunity to enjoy a wine-tasting with FLX Table’s master sommelier, Christopher Bates. The full flavor of the event is captured in the photo galleries below.
“I am very pleased the event has been so well received,” Eric Bieber, MD, president and CEO of Rochester Regional, said. “Staying connected to the community is critical to what we do and how well we’re able to do it. What better way to strengthen those bonds than getting together to enjoy some of the best food and drink Rochester and the Finger Lakes have to offer?”
The community agrees, as evidenced by the event’s growth and early reviews:
